Hi, I'm
Bonnie Xu
Welcome to my site! I'm Bonnie Xu, a UI/UX and digital designer based in Brisbane. I started in graphic design and fell in love with creating experiences that actually work for people.
I'm also obsessed with exploring how AI can help designers work smarter and faster. But honestly, what makes me happiest is collaborating with great people, trying new ideas, and creating work that actually makes a difference ;)

My Journey
It took me a little detour to become a professional designer. Three life turning points shaped who I am today.
The story started when I was 13. To create a poster of my favorite snooker player, John Higgins, I opened Photoshop for the first time.
The second turning point happened after I graduated from my Master's in Information Systems at UQ. I knew I couldn't compromise my passion anymore. I decided to start my freelance studio, creating posters, restaurant menus, and marketing materials.
The real turning point came when I committed to learning graphic design systematically at TAFE. I fell in love with the craft all over again—the late nights in the classroom, experimenting, watching ideas come to life on screen. That year, I won an Excellence in Typography award and later returned to TAFE to share my experience with future students, full circle.
How I Work
Design isn't just about making things look nice, it's about serving a purpose. The way you structure content, choose a color, or arrange information directly influences how people see the world.
My background in Information Systems gives me a unique edge. At Domino's, I learned that small design decisions matter enormously. A different text color, a subtle layout shift, a clearer hierarchy—these move metrics, influence behavior, and impact thousands of people's experiences.
Life Outside Design
When I'm not designing, I'm creating with my hands in other ways. I started Bon Bon, a polymer clay earring brand, exploring design beyond screens. Right now, I've stepped back as a new mum (no jewelry allowed in this season!), but it's still very much a part of who I am.
I'm also a devoted cat mum and a Disney enthusiast—the kind who tears up at the Princess meet-and-greet at Disneyland. I cry at beautiful architecture, stunning design, and moments of genuine beauty. For me, it's all connected. Beauty moves me, and that's why I design.
Let's Create Together
I design because the world deserves to be beautiful. If that resonates with you, let's create something together.
